What is the Experience?
The act of gifting is deeply ingrained and takes many forms across histories and cultures. In Japan, the practice of formally presenting gifts with silk covers called Fukusa began in the Edo period (1603–1868).
This interactive exhibition presents a group of Fukusa and related Japanese textiles from the renowned Chris Hall collection and showcases the act of gifting across cultures.
As you navigate through this exhibition, you will be able to design your own Fukusa through an interactive experience. Choose from various colors of fabrics, backgrounds and motifs to create your very own Fukusa. Each motif come with meaningful explanations to showcase their significance and what they symbolises.
At the end of the experience, you will be able to save your art creation through the scanning of a QR code. In addition, you can view your artwork and other’s recent creations on the LED wall located right beside the booth.
